Dan Anibal is an Uruguayan/American performing singer/songwriter and pianist. He has been playing and writing songs from an early age. He began his music studies at the age of 10 and classical piano at 15. By his late teens Dan began writing songs as a form of expression and soon he had a good number of solid rock songs. He then, together with some of his college friends, formed a band named "Anibal". With Anibal, Dan recorded some of his first songs in 2 EPS in 2001 and 2002 and performed the local scene in Northern Jersey. After leaving the band, Dan focused on his music degree and classical piano graduating from William Paterson University in 2003 with a BA in Music Studies. Later on as he found his soulmate, Dan married in 2004 and in 2007 he and his wife welcomed their beautiful boy, Landen. Rewind a little and in early 2006 Dan was ready to get back in the studio and after 3 months, "The Circus" was born. It's an album with a more progressive sound fused with alternative rock. The Circus was released in the fall of 2006. With The Circus, Dan gained recognition in the Podcast shows all over the internet, Adam Curry from MTV played the song "Affliction" in his show as well as many other major podcast shows locally and throughout the world. His songs "Affliction" and "I'll stay with you" earned a top 500 spot in the Billboard World Song Contest. Dan performed with his band live in NYC, Miami and San Francisco.
Things were going well for Dan, unfortunately his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in the fall of 2009 and in January 2011, just over a year after being diagnosed, his wife Maria passed away. Now as a single Dad of a 3 year old and no sight towards the future, this was a dark time. But through the love and support of his Parents and family and his beautiful boy, Dan kept on going.
In 2013 Dan and his son, moved to LA and there he and his band performed at his friend's Mayte Prida's Breats Cancer Foundation event as well as working with some amazing and wonderful musicians. In 2014 back in New Jersey, Dan focused once more on his other passion besides songwriting, classical piano studying with his dear friend and internationally renowned pianist, Frank Pavese. Fast forward to 2019, Dan was inspired to go back to singing and writing songs again and that brings us to the present.
Now in 2020, almost 10 years have passed since the loss of his wife and as we see what's happening in the world today, Dan felt he had to come back to writing, recording and performing his songs. It's only logical that his new album is called "Renaissance". It's a rebirth, a return to the light. With his new songs, Dan hopes to inspire many. At the end of the day, Dan will bring good old rock music back, with meaning and substance, inspiration and love, power and soul. So if you loved the 80s and the first half of the 90s, when music was still great, meaningful, powerful and inspirational, you will love his music. Dan is here to stay!!
He is now performing live on Facebook and soon on Youtube and Twitch. You can listen to "The Circus" and his latest songs from "Renaissance" at www.DanAnibal.com/music.
